Mission Trip 2018 to Africa
“Water is life, and clean water means health.” – Audrey Hepburn
Safe Water For Sierra Leone has received a substantial number of donated medical supply for our mission project, “MISSION 2018 TO AFRICA”. Through these generous donations, we are able to deliver life-saving tools to poor communities affected by the recurrence of cholera outbreaks and recent Ebola Virus Disease in Sierra Leone.
With more than 7.72 million people comprising of 16 different ethnic groups, Sierra Leone is a country where approximately 81% of its citizens live in poverty. It is one of the poorest countries in the world and its residents face many challenges. It has one of Africa’s worst literacy rates; it has the highest youth unemployment rate in West Africa; they experience many health problems such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, cholera, and Ebola; and a majority of its drinking water is taken from polluted sources.
Taking these statistics into account, Safe Water For Sierra Leone has amped up its efforts to provide clean and safe drinking water to the communities affected by poverty and disease. We also aim to launch a program that can help stop the spread of cholera and Ebola which has taken the lives of thousands of people and is continuing to affect even more throughout the region.
Through the help of our volunteers, combined with your kind donations, we seek to provide clean water and renewed hope to thousands of people in Sierra Leone. We aim to partner with the local government and other local organizations to promote good health and to help residents be free of disease.
